The concept behind the project was to create a strong link between interior and exterior, so that the garden becomes an extension of the interior space. Since the building already existed, with relatively small rooms, we set out to bring more natural light indoors and create a modern home defined by open space. Our approach to the renovation started from preserving the existing exterior walls and the openings in the façade, while reworking the interior partitioning so that it becomes open, light-filled space with a direct connection to the outdoor areas. The pool sits in the garden area, with a retractable louvre system built into its roof so it can operate open-air during summer. Likewise, the pool's perimeter enclosures were designed to slide open in places, so that in the summer scenario the pool space stays as open as possible and communicates freely with the garden. The exterior combines old and new, dominated by the pool's metal structure and, locally, by natural stone cladding. The terraces were finished using a restrained palette of materials and finishes, with light-reflecting materiality as the defining element that creates the impression of more generous spaces.
