Reconfigurare Piața Unirii, Râșnov
Brașov
Starting from the idea of the medieval marketplace, we proposed emphasising it as an open space set against the town's narrow streets, from which every approach road naturally leads toward the central square. The project aims to revitalise Union Square through the following interventions: restoring and preserving the buildings that frame the square; the presence of a fountain and a church, intended to subtly reconstruct, in visual terms, the medieval structure characteristic of squares of this kind; demolishing the enclosure around the Evangelical Church, which currently blocks its sightline and relationship with the square. The old former town hall building also gains greater importance in its relationship with the square. We propose a water feature to recall the tradition and ritual of medieval fountains, which in the past also served a functional role.
